Teija Kekonen
|
Teija is an expert in EU funding issues for companies and public organizations. She has a comprehensive understanding of EU funding and how to utilize all available financing instruments to create the optimal funding roadmap. She has an extensive network of European companies, universities and research institutes.
Teija is specialized in the 7th Framework, CIP, Life+, Interreg, Karelia, and NPP funding programs. She also has a Tekes certificate for FP7 proposal preparation. Prior to joining Micropolis in 2009, Teija worked for a large company and SMEs in research and development teams and she is also a co-founder and a board member of a start-up company.
Teija holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Climate Change.

Irja Ruokamo

Irja has more than 20 years’ experience in business development and networking. She has worked as technology transfer and business development advisor since 1998 at Technopolis Ventures Oy, Technopolis and Oulu Innovation Oy.
Irja worked for over six years as technology transfer advisor in the European Innovation Relay Centrem Network, which helps companies and research institutes in international cooperation. In addition she has several years’ experience in commercialization of research results.
Before joining Micropolis Oy in 2010, she was Project Manager and Program Director of the environmental technology center of excellence program. Before 1998 Irja worked in various positions in the environment industry and has been CEO of two small environmental companies.
Irja has a Master's degree in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Oulu.

Jukka Teräs
|
Jukka has more than 20 years’ experience in business development and regional development projects both in Finland and internationally. Jukka has acted as an expert of Micropolis development and project cooperation since the late 1990s.
He contributes to the Micropolis Environmental Technology projects as Programme Coordinator in the SkyPro Oulu Clean Air Cluster project in cooperation with the University of Oulu. Moreover, Jukka has expertise on strategy and development work of non-metropolitan regions. Jukka has participated e.g. in the OECD regional development mission as a member of the OECD international expert team.
Jukka has a Doctor of Science degree from the University of Oulu (Production Economics).

Kari Autio
|
Kari has long-term experience in management of several companies and in business development. During the past 13 years he has specialized in SME business development, especially in fundraising from public and private sources.
Kari has strong experience of consulting in international projects e.g. in Ireland and some African countries. He has been CEO of an export company, engineering office and venture capital company. Kari also had a key role in establishing a regional development company, Raahe Region Technology Center Ltd. Prior to joining Micropolis Ltd in 2006, Kari worked as R&D Advisor in Technopolis Plc and Oulu Innovation Ltd.
Kari earned an M.Sc. (Tech.) degree at University of Oulu in 1980, and in 2009 he finished his entrepreneurship/enterprise advisor diploma in PSK – Adult Education Centre.

Jouko Strand

Anna Saksio
|
Anna joined the expert team in 2010 and currently operates as Project Manager in an EU-funded project. She is in charge of communication and development of network relations. Her key competencies are strong understanding of international business environment and analytical use of accounting information.
Aside the project, Anna is responsible for financial controlling and planning of multiple projects. She also participates in preparing funding proposals. Previously Anna worked in a communications and marketing position in the municipal sector.
Anna has a Master's degree in Economics and Business Administration from the University of Oulu.

Heidi Takalo
|
Heidi started working at Micropolis Oy in 2011 in a project of renewable energy in Northern Ostrobothnia. In the past years she has been involved in different research projects and has held versatile roles in energy and environmental companies.
Heidi is also studying to become an environmental engineer. Due to her educational background, Heidi`s areas of expertise are surficial geology, water and geo-environmental engineering. She previously worked in the Cewic (Centre of Expertise in the Water Industry Cluster) project.
Heidi has a Master's degree in geology from the University of Oulu.
